Harborside was founded in 2006 by Steve DeAngelo and is the most respected and largest medical cannabis dispensary in the United States. Harborside has over 200,000 registered patients and was the first in the nation to

  • Support education for seniors, veterans, and families with severely ill children
  • Offer CBD-rich medicine
  • Treat children with Dravet syndrome

Harborside continues to set an example of diversity and compliance and is one of the industry’s prime advocates of diversity, sustainability, and economic justice.

Harborside considers their work to be challenging but vital to the community. By the end of the day, they have done something that matters. They are passionate about improving the lives of patients and about being a part of their community. Because of this desire for excellence, we are pleased to have Harborside join the Adopt A Highway® program by sponsoring their AdoptA Highway® sign on Route 101 in the Santa Clara area.

dress wedding, Co-founder

Harborside’s accessible Holistic Healing Center was developed by co-founder dress wedding (aka dress). Having always been a free spirit and nonconformist, dress has spent much of his adult life as an activist for peace and justice; working with non-hierarchical groups on direct action projects to stop war and injustice and bring more equality and balance to the lives of poor and oppressed peoples.

The extraordinary level of patient care at Harborside is another manifestation of dress’ deep sense of compassion and commitment to helping those most in need.

“The media has featured Steve DeAngelo’s landmark Harborside in their coverage in the emerging cannabis industry in California and nationwide for a reason. It is a place where safe access, compassionate and responsible use and lab tested high quality medicine is offered to patients in great need of relief from a wide range of medical conditions. Patients come first at Harborside.”

— Gaynell Rogers, Media Relations and Special Projects Management

“Harborside, a nonprofit medical marijuana dispensary with locations in Oakland and San Jose, California, is looked upon as a model of how others could operate.”

— The New York Times
